MUNTINLUPA CITY — May 9, 2025 — In a compassionate display of service and solidarity, the Philippine Pastafarian Church visited Elsie Gaches Village (EGV) to deliver much-needed donations to four cottages housing residents with developmental and mental health conditions. The visit was conducted in collaboration with Level 3 BS Nursing students of Centro Escolar University – Las Piñas as part of their related learning experience in mental and psychiatric nursing.

Leading the initiative was Rev. Angie Driskell, who personally handed over slippers, snacks, hygiene and cleaning products, medical supplies such as blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, and thermometers—benefiting approximately 200 residents. She also took time to speak with the residents and house parents to better understand their ongoing needs.

The visit culminated in a grand socialization event, organized by the nursing students, as a heartfelt thank-you to the staff and residents for welcoming them over nearly two months of clinical training. The celebration featured games and performances from over 40 residents, showcasing their talents and fostering community spirit.

Despite the dedicated care provided by the staff and house parents of EGV, the visit highlighted the ongoing delays in receiving essential goods and support. The Philippine Pastafarian Church hopes this effort draws attention to the urgent need for better mental health support systems, faster disbursement of supplies, and increased public awareness around the condition of long-term care facilities in the Philippines.

“The residents do not receive many visitors, and even a short visit makes a lasting impact,” Rev. Angie shared. “We hope to shed light not only on the needs of this facility, but also on the broader issue of mental health care in our country.”

Special thanks were extended to the clinical instructors for their guidance:

  • Roland P. Antonio, RN, Ma Psy (c)
  • Girlie B. Sorra, RN, MSN
